A mindful approach to navigating hardship and major life transitions

Navigating difficult emotions, relationship challenges, or a major life transition can leave one feeling overwhelmed, lost, or stuck. You might be experiencing anxiety, stress, trouble sleeping or focusing, a feeling of disconnection or emptiness, or simply a lack of joy in everyday life. Or you turn to substances or problematic behaviors to cope, or struggle with anger or past trauma, impacting your relationships, work, and overall well-being.

Men, in particular, may find it hard to discuss these struggles, feeling pressure to handle everything alone. If this resonates, you're not alone. Seeking support is a sign of strength, a first step toward a more purposeful and balanced life.

Nothing can insulate us from all of life’s heartache or hardship. But therapy—through thoughtful exploration, understanding, and effort—can provide a path toward growth and self-understanding, offering insight and strategies to navigate the inevitable challenges that come from time to time.

Imagine feeling more in control of your emotions, more engaged in your personal and work life, better able to respond to challenges with greater clarity and calm. Imagine breaking free from old habits, quieting your inner critic, and finding equanimity amid the turmoil, disconnection, and incivility of modern life.

How I work

With 12 years of practice experience, I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate difficult life situations and major transitions. Often these situations are exacerbated by difficulties in emotion regulation, including depression, anxiety, or anger, as well as unhelpful patterns, such as substance and behavioral addictions and relationship problems.

I utilize mindfulness and interrelated cognitive behavioral tools, emotion awareness, and insight to assist clients in working towards a more purposeful life in alignment with your values and goals.

I strive for a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative and authentic—supportive, accepting, and challenging as suits your relational style and goals. I believe a strong therapeutic alliance, built upon trust and non-judgment, acts as a model for healthy relationships, by providing a space to explore your experiences, candidly identify stuck points, and develop new perspectives.
