Compassionate and evidence-based counseling tailored to your strengths and needs
Mindful support for men, couples, addiction, and life transitions | Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA
Navigating difficult emotions, relationship challenges, or a major life transition can leave one feeling overwhelmed, lost, or stuck. You might be experiencing anxiety, stress, trouble sleeping, a feeling of disconnection, or simply a lack of joy in everyday life. Many individuals, especially men, find it hard to discuss struggles with anger, past trauma, or relationship challenges, and instead turn to alcohol, drugs, sex, or other problematic behaviors to cope. These struggles can deeply impact relationships, work, and overall well-being. If this resonates, know that you're not alone. Seeking support is a sign of strength, a crucial first step toward a more purposeful and balanced life.
Nothing can insulate us from all of life’s heartache or hardship. But therapy—through thoughtful exploration, understanding, and effort—can provide a path toward growth and self-understanding, offering insight and strategies to navigate the inevitable challenges that come from time to time. Imagine feeling more in control of your emotions, more engaged in your personal and work life, better able to respond to challenges with greater clarity and calm. Imagine breaking free from old habits, quieting your inner critic, and finding equanimity amid the turmoil, disconnection, and incivility of modern life.

Evidence-based expertise
With 12 years of practice experience, including former roles as clinical head of a DBT program and director of a co-occurring residential substance abuse program, I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate difficult life situations and major transitions. Often these situations are exacerbated by difficulties in emotion regulation, including depression, anxiety, or anger, as well as unhelpful patterns, such as substance, sex, or other behavioral addictions, and relationship problems.
I utilize evidence-based approaches such as mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with emotion awareness and insight, to address challenges like impulsivity and emotion regulation, and to help clients find a purposeful life aligned with their values and goals.
I strive for a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative and authentic—supportive, accepting, and challenging as suits your relational style and goals. I believe a strong therapeutic alliance, built upon trust and non-judgment, acts as a model for healthy relationships, by providing a space to explore your experiences, candidly identify stuck points, and develop new perspectives.
